hello, just signed in at this forum.
Just bought an almera N16 (2002) 2.2DI. But does anybody know if it's normal that in 4th and 5th gear the car doesn't pull that much anymore? but overall i already love the car...
i did some internet searchin on this and i found that it can be related to, EGR dirty, airmassmeter, wrong settings of fuel injectors, katalysator...
But beside that I like the car héhé and apparently there are not so much almera 2.2di around in the world
Yeah those can all relate to your problem but I would have thought you would feel the problem in all the gears though? EGR can be a big one as with diesels it quickly fills up with soot. Get it cleaned out and drive it hard every now and then to 'burn' the soot out.
yeah i think that's the best way, but because i am not a mecanic i prob need to go to the garage. but i will keep u updated on this one
- EDK did u tuned ur engine? because i see urs produces 148 bhp. I only got the 110bhp (DI without the common rail)
Yeah mine being the phase2 common rail was 136 bhp stock and it's tuned to a dyno proven 148 bhp. I've seen others dyno their dCis stock and come up at about 125-130 bhp so my gains are better than they first appear. I wish I had dyno'd it when it was stock though :O
Another member 'scooby' also has a Di version and it's remapped. So that should be pulling some impressive numbers
i am still doubting about it, because i read on the internet that this can lead to a faster wear our of clutch and stuff, but i don't know if this is really true? But on the other hand it would be better because then she would be more lively in the lower rpms
Well it's true to an extent. Manufacturers build parts to take certain tolerances so you could get away with making it a little bit faster with no problems. At the end of the day though it depends on how you drive, because it's possible to wear out a new clutch on standard power quickly if you wanted to...
yeah totaly true, But i think i first try to fix the power problem in higher gears. and maybe if i get the full 110 bhp it's enough fun for me hehe i ll keep u up to date
Yeah definitely worth doing. No point tuning it if it's not working to begin with! Would be good to hear what problem it is so yes do let us know. I'd like to get my EGR cleaned out and injectors cleaned too to be on the safe side. I know you can blank the EGR off but I've also heard it can do more harm than good as diesels don't like high exhuast gas temps. Blanking an EGR would raise those EGTs and with mine being tuned the EGTs may be higher already. Something to be aware of.
