Hi, just purchased a n16 1.8 sxe. Fairly happy with it and signed up to here as i think forums are the best place for advice/parts etc.
how come i cannot read any of the how to guides though??

We have a paid membership part of the forums that holds of lot of technical info and the How To's you noticed. Feel free to ask a question in the Newbie section we can still help, but so you know there's a lot of stuff already on offer :).

okay thanks for that. Just sold my 55 plate type r to free up money for a house so have put the extra cash in the bank and purchased an N16. Really quite happy with it, only gonna do a few things to it though and get me some reliable motoring and decent mpg!
Here's a list, if anyone feels the could help (items for sale, advice on fitting etc) then id very much appreciate it:
  • Ph1 rear lights
  • Clear repeaters
  • HID front headlights
  • De-badge rear
  • Lower it
  • Re-furb wheels or get something a bit better but subtle.

Anyone got any other cheap mods that i could do my-self?
 
Leon cupra splitter looks OEM, spraying the moustache (silver bit on grills) makes it look a bit meaner too. Personal preference really buddy ;)
 
If I recall correctly the rear badges all come off easily with heat (hairdryer) to soften the sticky pads, dental floss or fishing line to saw through the pads and sticky-stuff remover or lighter fuel and kitchen roll to remove the residue.

Ph1 and Ph2 rear lights are interchangeable I believe.

Just fitted clear repeaters (as of an hour ago) which was a ball ache as I didn't want to cut the wires and the 2 bulb holders were different so use the original bulb holders and base and just swapped the actual lense over after carefully removing them, then filing them down to make a clean contact and then re-gluing them to the original base!
Nothing like doing things the hard way, but it looks good now ive done it.
Can't wait for all new lights to be delivered as well!
Think I'm gonna de badge rear tomora, and maybe paint grille, depending on how easy it is to remove the existing one (the silver bits I mean)

Cheers guys. Gonna get some hids this week. Is there a set or brand on here that everyone uses that Re proven to be fairly cheap and of a good quality?
I also still want some ph1 rear lights if anyone has any for sale?!

Ha, yeah it is. How's it going pal?

Yeah unfortunately had to sell the ctr to get a sensible car in order to free up some money for a house, and get better economy than 18mpg!!
Thought I'd join this forum cos they are always good for findin out info on specific cars.
