There's a metric-shitload of info available to members. well worth the "few pints" cost for a year (and you get fresh stickers!). the tuning/how-to sections have tonnes to read and whatever issues you have are sure to have been had by others before you. You might even find your own mera in a thread or two.
There are car manuals available online, where you can view/download the relevant sections. I'm just having a nosey now at the engine section (SR/GA ALmera N15 95-00) I downloaded from http://car-service-manuals.com. I found that after a few minutes googling.
I'm faily confident in saying that all the engine blocks will be identical (sr's the same as sr's) and that the differences in power will come from differences in turbos/mapping/fuel-delivery/breathing/lots-of-things. Wiki is a great place to look also. It tells you what other countries the n15 was sold in and what they were called, so you might be able to find a similar manual abroad (pulsar etc)
