wrap a tea towel around your current knob :O b4 u grip it with the wrench !!

it doesnt unscrew off
personally i got me best knife out and literally peeled the thing of the knob
and right at the very end it screws off
but you have to and have to peel the thing off

i had to do the same when i fitted my short shifter
hell i had to cut mine off...
now i have a short shifted
and a gay gearknob.
i miss my oem one
Nah couldnt get that one off to save my life haha, you can probably tell by the fact its a GTi gearknob without the leather on it :lol:
It was in one of the K11s
Have a look underneath when you get a chance, the black one came without a gearknob and that one was out of my red GTi. It might be the bolt for the mount is a bit loose.
If its an aftermarket shaft or its been played with, then it probably needs tightening up down there. sometimes the nuts come loose. count my puns
