hi .iv aera s reg. plz help. jus got a pivot strt button. i installed it ..all workd but buttin light didnt go off. so tried another wire frm ignition. in the process i touched antha wire. now it dnt work. the button lights but doesnt turm on car. have i blown the relay or the resister? its one of theses pivot buttons from ebay

apologies. i have a 1.4 se almera. iv just bought a pivot push start button. does anyone know which wires i connect it to.
i did install it and it worked . however the button light did not switch off. so i removed it thinking i can reinstall it onto the correct wires. in the process i mistakenly touch another wire. the car us fine however the button does not work. it lights up and the relay makes a clicking noise. though it does not work. can someone please help? have i blown a fuse in the car? or is it the circuit. the seems to be working as normal. thankyou

First question, why have you fitted a push button start to a 1.4 almera?

You've probably popped a fuse. There are a few big ones under the bonnet near the battery. Check those and replace if necessary. As for the light on the button can you post a link to the item or a picture of the wiring? Some take their power from the permanent live feed that is used to switch the starter on. You should really have it connecte to the ignition live at the back of the barrel. That means that your button won't light up until you turn the key and should still switch the starter.
