Hi everyone
My wife has a 53 reg Nissan Almera 1.5 Flare with only 31k on the clock.
I think the gearbox is in the process of failing - when you accelerate now there is a whining noise and when you come off the throttle there is a grating noise (which goes if you put the clutch in).
I have done some google research and this appears to be a common fault. This website details loads of gearbox problems:

Has anyone had such problems and have you had any luck contacting Nissan. Has there been a recall?
