Hmm...new to the Almera

Hi again guys, as some of you may remember I bought an Almera about a month or two ago. It runs well, but when the car reaches the top end of each gear and is in high revs a loud hissing noise can be heard until I change up gear, makes almost like a dump valve noise sometimes :)

ANy idea what this is?

Also, my almera I'm finding s very sluggish, and sturggles to go above 40 on some mild hills...Again I never had any problems like this with my SEAT and I'm no mechanic. Can any of you guys help me Please?

I wouldn't be so bothered and i appreciate they are heavy cars for 1.4 engines but, what about this hissing?

Thanks in advanced.

Going back to my 1.4 days I also had this problem in the last few weeks of it being on the road and in all honesty it was after regularly thrashing the fuck out of it. I could'nt explain it so did'nt bother creating a thread asking what the problem was!

But when this hissing sound happened the car would start loosing acceleration and I would usually switch the car off let it cool then try again.

Exhaust leak I reckon. My SRi whistles a bit on harsh acceleration but thats an intake thing and I cant be arsed to fix it.

This is the one advertised on Pistonheads I am presuming.

Did you get to the bottom of your problems?

What will you realistically take for it?

I'll be looking for summat similiar to your motor in the next couple of weeks.

could it be something to do with the piston rings and them being shot? pressure might not be building up properly in the engine and escaping somewhere and then not being converted into power? please tell me if im talking crap, lol.

i just wouldnt of thought having a leak in the mani wouldnt of made you loose power?

The advert says 'near perfect condition'!

Its been re-listed on pistonheads a couple of days ago so I'm thinkin that its sorted, the old advert did mention the 'hissing' problem like.

ok wild card, mine used to do it till i changed the induction kit to a better one, could it just be the induction kit makin the hiss? my m8 noticed it as well so wasnt my imagination
