This guide can also be used to do the front doors, but in doing the front, it's much easier, as the entire card can be removed easily. I realise the rear cards can be removed too, but I managed OK while leaving them in.

Mods / Admin please feel free to move this thread into the locked "How-To" section, I am yet to send the cheque off to become an AoC member, so I currently have no access to that part of the forum currently.

This is my first ever How-To, so I hope it's informative, and useful to all. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the old trim, not too bad as standard, but lets get it changed!
1oldtrimee5.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using a knife, screwdriver, or other pointed implement, start to remove the old fabric, starting around the outside.
2removeoldtrimjc3.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The old fabric is easily removed by simply pulling on it. Keep it in one piece, as we'll use it for a template.
3fullyremoveoldtrimbs3.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remove all the old foam stuff, as it will help the glue stick for the new fabric. Take care when scrubbing this off, it doesn't taste too good...!
4removeoldfoamye8.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get the old material, the template, and turn it over and place onto the new fabric. Also, flip over the new fabric aswell.

6flipoveroldtrimtv6.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draw around the template.
7drawaroundnz2.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you've drawn around all the way, cut that shape out carefully.
8cutoutnewze7.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the new fabric has been cut out, try it for size inside the car, it will seem too big, but providing you did your template nicely, this size should be spot on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the size is good, we're ready to begin. Use some spray glue, or maybe hot glue gun might do the same job. Start at one end and do a small section of the flat area. Don't do too close to the "tuck-around" part with the glue.
10gluefw9.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stick your new material to the part you've just glued, making sure its in the right place. Begin to tuck the material into the indent. You'll find it sits in there quite nicely. You can use a flat head screwdriver to get deep into the indent.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If any of the bits around the outside are not tucking in nicely, you can use a spot of super-glue to help it stay in. It's normally not neccessary though.
12supergluemu4.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carry on all the way around, using more spray-glue as you go, doing a small section at a time.
13carryonroundsx6.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you've gone all the way round, you'll have something that looks like this. Take a look and see which bits don't quite look right, and go back and give that bit some attention, wedge it in a bit further, or use a bit of super glue.
14almostfinishedgc8.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here we are, the finished product, front and back :)
15finishedoo1.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can pretty much follow the same guide for the front door cards, but sadly I didn't take any snaps when I was doing my fronts. The only difference is that the whole card comes out much easier, and that you'll need to cut a hole for the door-handle to sit.

Thanks for looking, and hope this guide has been useful! :)

Cheers,
/Matt

Quick update - seats are here! Now... Where's my angle grinder...!

Great how-to, thanks for that! I'm gonna give it a go at some point now!

Did mine last weekend but with a different twist. Ripped of the material with my bare fingers. Sanded down the fluff with a kitchen scourer (at one point mislaid the scourer so resorted to thumbnail!) then black shoe polish and shoe brushed it for a shine. Didn't take long - so give it a go.

Good right up matt! Nice seats - will they bolt-on or do you need to fabricate a subframe?

will the polish not come of if it gets warm or you brush against it ?

Well it was a temporary measure until I get a spray can. So long as you thoroughly brush it to get that shine and you don't over do the polish amount - it should be okay. Also the heat of the day help dry it out - which also meant I had to brush quicker so not to get streaks where the polish overlapped the sponge applicator.

TBH a can of "back to black" would have been better as it absorbs more. But I ran out.

hummm i might try that need some ford recaro material tho its cheeper than retriming the seats me thinks
