how to make HU surround/facia fit on??

as above, really pissing me off that my surround wont fit on my HU. how do i achieve this? cut the lip off the dash thats stopping it?

Sorry if this sounds patroniosing, but have you tried putting the fascia on 1st, then sliding the H/U through the slot?

Put a pic up, so we know exactly what`s what. :)

lol, no offence taken. nah, either way it wont go on, the plastic lip part of the dash sits infront of the HU preventing the surround to clip onto the front of the HU and sits too close to the HU for the surround to go on first then the dash surround.

EDI: i suppose i could get a few washers and use them between the brackets and the dash chassis to make the HU sit further outside the lip, wil post back with findings
 
Move the brackets back on the HU? Should have a selection of screw holes on your HU to put the brackets on. Saves from attacking your dash with a file...
 
Don't have a camera I'm afraid mate, but when the headunit surround that was with the HU is on you can't even see where it was filed. I made sure it was a tight fit too, so I put the little plastic surround on first then pushed the center console on, nice and snug.
