How to remove panel (above glovebox)

Hey everybody

Trying to swap certain panels from my old car to my new one, as the panels are a lot more worn in the new one (no idea why!)

Anyhoo, i'm trying to work out how this panel comes off. Anyone know?

If you haven't got it sorted by the time I get home i'll check my Haynes manual :)

James.

to take the glove off

look when its closes and there are a clip on each side holding it in. they are a L shaped clip holding the glove box in.

Aye i can get the glovebox out, its the panel above that with the heater vent in.

Gonna have a good look behind it for the screws tomorrow taa :)

i tried once, but with no succes.. think you have to remove the intire dash. got my hand up and found the screws, but was not possible to use any tools

i agree, you will have to remove whole dash...thats what looks like the case after looking in my haynes

I talked to a guy ones who did this. Should take about an hour to do..

think i'm giving it a shot sometime...

got a lot of plans, when my study debt is payed of... :P

Okay, the panel is part of the whole top dash.

You'll need to remove stereo surround panel and the plastic surround around the steering wheel and the glovebox. Finally remove your speedial surround and the dials themselves (pull off x3 connections).

Remove the red LED at the top left (twist of the led from the square bit so you can push it into the hole) and a small square cover at the opposite end on the driver side (this will reveal x2 bolts). At the floor level near the door (next to the accelerator) there is a plastic cover to remove either side (another x2 bolts). (pull out the rubber door seal for easier access.)

Remove the pillar plastic.

Unscrew the bolts x2 at the top of dash where you removed the covers and LED and x2 bolts at bottom.

Release the steering will lock so its at its lowest point.

When you lift the dash make sure both your doors are open with the window down to prevent accidental damage. You will need to lift the dash over to the left making sure you don't damage the indicator stalks!

Thats all I remember off the top of my head.

When you put it back; when you come to screwing in the top bolts - be patient with small radial twists of the wrench as the handle could break your windscreen!
