Hi everyone!

I own a 1.4 Almera Groove in red, and after a few weeks i have got to grips with it and now it feels like an extension of my foot! I wasnt going to keep this car long, but i really like it! ok its only a 1.4 but the DOHC engine keeps it going, i am amazed at what i can keep up with!

The best bit by far about this car is the way it holds the road, i find mine tends to go into a slide at high speed into corners but is so easy to control.

I was just wondereing what i could do to make it a little quicker? Cams maybe?

Welcome. If you want to mod it just whack an air filter and cat-back on it. As blackpool said there really isnt much point modding a 1.4. I had a 1.4 for two years and never did owt to it apart from sticking some GTi alloys on it.

As you said, it is surprising how nippy they are. Save and get a GTi!

Say induction kit,cat back,alloys and regular servicing will do it well.:)
I also had one for about 3 years,gotta admit they are pretty good.I ended up getting the same colored GTi so was fortunate enough to do some swapping around :D
Just wait till you test drive a GTi though mate.Big difference ;)

Basically yeah, alot faster! Feels alot more controlled too due to the front and rear strut braces and rear discs as standard.

Plus depending on how specced up your 1.4 is, its got more toys too. Most Phase 2 GTi's come with sunroof and aircon, white dials, electric everything, better seats (you get the same ones in Si's and SRi's too), a cool bodykit, front fogs.
 
welcome to the forums mate, would have to agree with the lads' advice aboe ^^ save up and get a gti, i had a 1.4 aswell and theirs not much you can do to them to gain a significant power increase!!

Or you can mount compressor, have not got any info, but if somone has, PM me with it! Have a buddy who is going for comp. in theese days.. kind of good havin some info..
