I could be back! Don't all roll your eyes at once please lol.

Hey all,

I may be back on the site due to going to have a look at an Almera tomorrow.

I need your help as I would just like to know anything I need to look out for when checking the vehicle over that is specific to the vehicle.

I am going to have a look at a 2.2 SE DCI 3dr 2003 on a 53 plate. The mileage is currently on 71k.

Is there anything I need to look out for?

Many Thanks in advance,

Kerrie

Excessive black, blue or white smoke when flooring the motor. Get a friend to follow you on the test drive, as turbo failure is common-ish on these. Other than it having a good service record, i wouldn't worry about much else on the 2.2

Thank you for the info. I will keep an eye out. :)

I text the guy selling it as it was a hour and 45 minute drive away so I didn't want to have a wasted journey. I asked if there was any smoke and he replied and said that the fumes are a little smokey but the engine is fine. Doesn't sound good to me unfortunately, so won't be having a look at it now. Thank you for your help though. :)

That's assuming the bloke knows exactly what he's looking for. I've had people say mine is smoking. That's steam mate ha

Could just be normal levels of diesel smoke. Bit subjective on a diesel about what is smokey and what is ok.

I know it's just a risk I don't really wanna take, I don't feel great about it. Ill keep on searching. Can't afford to go to far away due to money (I was made redundant recently so can't warrant the chance) :( no worries, ill keep searching. :)
