i have a phase 1 gti and i have a problem with the cars acceleration. it hesitates from around 3000rpm to 5000rpm. i have seen someone else with a gti and they recon its something to do with the throttle sensor being changed and not being set up properly. on diagnostics it says its only accelerating at about 45% and it does not go like my other gti. has anyone ever had this problem cause im loosing passion for this car so quickly

Timing could be out, mine did this, it turned out to be the dizzy decided it got hungry and wanted to eat the cam shaft

diagnostics indicated timing is normal also lamda sensor is working

We can Whip the dizzy off and check to be safe anyway, but the tps doesnt seem to be set up right, im yet to check that the voltages closed and WOT but i will be doing this at some point in the week the base timing on tick over is 15@ 800/800 rpm

hey chunk did my throttle sensor and that is correct now and had to change dizzy as it was worn but the problem is still there. could this really be my cams ??

I was thinking on this, if the dizzy cap and rotor arm have been fucked for a while, and badly... this would affect the coil inside the dizzy right? Also see to the cam too and the fuel filter as it may be weak

....phone....

I changed the dizzy and adjusting the timing so I runs better, not brilliant mind but better, I've got stus old piper cams here that I got off fred which I keep meaning to repair and fit them but can be bothered x

There is a chunk( ha see what I did there) missing where the locating dowl goes, was just going to whack a dollop of weld on it but can't be bothered x

does sound like i have the same issue bloody annoying was meant to be turbo converted in 2 months but this has put it back a bit lol
