What's my number?
going to lower mine 40mm heard u have to cut somthing to get the old ones off or somthing, is there anything i will need to know that i will come across when changing the springs as i dont want to get half way through and get suck lol me and a mechanics doing it any way but just incase cheers

easy enough just time consuming removing the metal panels in the boot, load of 10mm bolts, when you remove the struts from the front put a mark on the top mount so you know which way you took it of, there should be a mark on there from memory (thinks back over 3 years lol) and same goes with the rear one, or leave the mount slightly lose so you can line it up then finish tightening it, which spring manufactor are you fitting?

prob buying pi springs ill be fitting them at my work im doing an apprenticeship with fife council so ill have everything we need must be that metal panel thing i was told about taking off ill have to remove all my soundsystem to get to it uhhh lol, so what do uz think of pi springs on standard shokies ?

I ran Pi springs on standard shocks, didnt really do anything for the performance side of things but looked a lot nicer. Going to invest in some KYB shocks and Pi springs this time round I think, to get the handling improvement im after.

I recently fitted some Eibach springs on standard P2 shocks and the handling is noticably improved - flatter cornering, less nose-diving under braking and the car has also dropped nicely.

The ride quality is also pretty good, definately firmer than standard and a bit harsh on crappy roads, but all in all a worthwhile mod.

when i lowered my almera (even though its a 1.4) i didnt have to cut anything? :S

though getting to the rear shocks was a bitch because of the metal plates covering them!

what does anyone think of spax springs they were on mine when i got it not sure if they are standard shocks tho and where does one buy kybs from ?

i found a place that does a brand called system 2 that are aparently made by kyb

Aren't you supposed to change the standard shock absorbers when changing to lower springs?

Mine is an N16, and am thinking it would look a lot nicer...

All the info I've read on (good quality) aftermarket lowered springs say that stock shocks are OK up to about 30mm lowering?

you can use stock shocks....only thing is they're likley to wear out quicker...and you'll prolly end up changin em a couple of months down the line anyway...;)

Thats not true mate, it's real easy!
Just make shure you get the right springs for your car.
There are a huge differense between ph1 and ph2 springs (this is the rear springs, the front match)!

Stock shocks will as mention above wear out faster than sport shocks (witch are made for 40mm lowering).

Cheers.!

Get some shocks, theyre only cheap, and make a lot of difference. Standards wear out so quick with springs on.
