Igntion barrel query..

hey

just a quick one, just removed the entire steering column from the GTi im currently breaking as im trying to remove the ignition barrel (the part the key goes into).. now i cant workout how your supposed to remove it.. i think my first question is can you?! :lol: .. i have removed them from other cars, just not sure how to do this one!..

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!..

oh and if anyone needs any other parts steering column related just let me know!! its all there, and its all cheap!..

really need some advice on this as i dont want to go in all guns blazing when i havent a clue on how to do it..! :roll: ill just end up breaking something..! :lol: someone out there must have removed one of these..?!


nice table ornament.. my mum was not impressed..! altho i reckon it would make a cool stool!

this is the part i need removed, the barrel the key goes into..

there is a hole on each side with what looks to be a pin you can push in slightly.. now, is it just the case of removing this pin and sliding it out?!..

anyone have a almera haynes manual? could they possibly have a quick look to see if this is covered?!..

any help would be great!..

You have got the 2 shear bolts that you can remove using a sharp centre punch and tapping them around. As for taking the barrel apart once it is off the column, you can't.
