I'm a Newbie :D

Hi all

I purchased my Almera 1.5 S 3dr, Metalic Silver with 56k miles on the clock in May 2012. It was the first car that actually stood out when I was looking to buy. Its a 2003 model which I think is the N16. It's started up on every occasion and runs like a dream. I just booked it in for a Major Gold Service at my local Nissan Dealer in a few weeks time as I just want peace of mind that everything is good.

The only thing that has failed on me is the rear widow washer, no liquid comes out but the wiper works, any idea's?

I've also been told that the Almera's suffer from gearbox issue's from a fellow owner. Have any of your Almera's had gearbox issue's?

Many thanks

Tez

Welcome to the AOC.

Yes, it's an N16 chassis.

The early 1.5s had an issue where the oil filler hole for the gearbox was too low so you didn't get enough oil in there.
As far as I know that was only pre-facelift (phase one) models. Not sure if 2003 would be phase one or two. Phase two has plastic honeycomb on lower front bumper and round styling on rear lights, phase one had plain rear lights and no plastic honeycomb on lower bumper.

In any case fix for the gearbox issue is to jack it up on the side of the filler hole when changing or topping up gearbox oil.

Thanks for the quick reply, my almera has the plastic honeycomb on lower front bumper and rounded rear lights so sound like the face lift model. I'll take some pic's tomorrow and upload them :P

Thanks for the tip, i'll remember that :)

Do keep an eye on the gearbox oil. A member here had issues with his I believe. Although this was quite a few years ago and I only know this because it was documented in a feature in banzai last year

Lol. I thought his was ph1.

In that case Topdog it's worth asking the Nissan guys if it's an issue with your gearbox.

Will do, I just gone over the list of what the service includes and they'll be changing the gearbox oil :)

Thanks for the tips :)
