ANYYYYYWAY

Had the MOT yesterday and it failed on emissions (well should have failed but me and the tester made it pass ;) )

The Check-Engine light came on a couple of days whilst on the motorway in 5th gear at 80mph
Its staying on constantly so not giving me a fault code.

Im guessing its probably the lamba sensor as it will kill the emissions and or the cat AND my fuel consumpsion is crappy at the mo, car struggles to accelerate between 4k to 5k RPM and tries to stall when i come to a stand still.

the problem is places round me want bout £120 for the cat, £170ish for the pre-cat sensor and £80 for the post-cat sensor.

the light has now decided to go off the screen but guessing the problem is still there.

any advice what to do as i dont want to start replacing items without knowing wot's wrong.
also any ideas which sensor will be the root cause?

on the emission test monitor one rear 9.02 CO reading and the other 0.80 CO reading.
Assume the pre-cat will be controlling the fueling?

many thanks and hello to u lot again

The post cat sensor wont cause a fail of emmisions i know that much.....it measures if the cat is actually working or not.

oh oki, so the cat is trying 2 clean the system as its reading 0.80CO or summet like that but the pre-cat sensor is overfueling the engine

ello darren lol

the light came back on again last night when driving home.

think i mite just replace the pre-cat sensor 1st just to be safe than sorry. im using sooooooo much petrol at the mo.

any ideas on where i can get it a bit cheaper than £170ish as i feel thats a bit steep for a sensor

many thanks rowdy.

gonna call up my supplier and see if they can beat that price if not order it and get it sorted for the weekend :)
assume they only do pre cat ones coz the likelyness of the post cat failing is small?
