Immobiliser Problems 2004 1.5 s

I am looking for some advice and too see if anybody has had the same problem with nissan almera immobiliser. My car is in the garage at the moment and is going to cost a fair bit which i am really not happy about. the car its self although its now 3 and a half years old has only done 22000 miles.

My immobilser will not recognise any of keys so it will not start. I was told by the RAC that it needs re-coded. The garage have tried this today and it has not cleared the problem. they are now telling me the next thing to do will be to re-place the decoding ring? and this may not sort it.

my bill so far is 2 hours labour at £110 and £180 for the decoding ring plus another hours labour at £55 total is £345, and they still cant guarantee this will fix the problem.

Does anybody have any advice or has had simmilar experience with immobiliser problems?

I am a very dissapointed in nissan and will never own one again, the vehicle has been hassle after hassle since i got a year ago.

Thanks in advance

Graeme

I was going to say recoding the key. but if that does not solve the problem then I am not sure there are many things that can cause the problrem you need to find the fault causing the problem which is not cheap from Nissan. I was wondering why have you not took the car back to Nissan when it was under warrenty as you have owned it for a year? would of saved you a lot of money.

Hi and thanks for the welcome.

The manufactures warranty ran out on the car 6 months ago and since then things just seem to keep going wrong.

the garage have tried putting new codes in but it is not working.

Cheers

im not a expert at immobiliser but could the immobiliser box or the decoding ring be fautly. if codeing it does not work then the immobiliser box is faulty or its not receiving the information/data to recode it.

If I was you I would buy the decoding ring and take it to another garage to fit it. Replacing the decoding ring is not hard if its just a simple unplug and replace and plug back in that requires no coding. not sure but I can get to my coding ring and replace it within a hour

if the decoding ring needs coding then I would leave it to Nissan
