PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME

having had a few problems of recent i think i have got it down to the nats coming in and stoping the car from starting

it is still sparking tho is that normal ???

anyhow is there anyway to get round the immobiliser other than swaping the ecu for a earlyere one with out nats ?

im getting desperate as i need the car to take my kids to various apoinments and having no car is a pain

please can someone help me with this ?

thanks spen

i thought if the immobilizer kicks in you turn the key and get nothing at all.

I thought my immobilizer was playing up recently but it turned out to be the starter motor sticking especially when the car was hot.

starter works fine

im not sure whats worng with it but if i can bypas the nats then its one less thing that can be wrong with it but its been surgested to me that thats why it wont start

come on guys there must be a way to turn it off then i can drive it to a garage to get it sorted once and for all

if indeed this is what is causing the car to fail to start then the immobiliser can not be bypassed. you need to go to a nissan dealer and have the fault codes read! or in this case it would seem that in this case they would need to come to you!

Swapping the ECU wont cure the problem.

What makes you think its NATS anyway?.....what are your symptoms?

Your imobiliser could only be activated if you pressed the red button, using the key doesn't activate it. So if youve pressed the button why can't you press it again? If you ain't touched the key-fobs it's not NAT's

ok i have a check light flashing after a flat battery the car turns over but will not start it has fuel and a fully charged battery

i have also been told of several people that the nats alarm is a seperate system from the imobiliser

i didnt press the red button as my phob doesnt do anythign on my alarm as it needs to be re coded and i dont have a master the nats is part of the key withthe red chip ??? ive had a fault code reader on it and the ecu is showing no faults

a garage local to me but who wont have anything to do with it as its not a deisel say it sounds like its the imobiliser and its my key that needs recoding to make it work

pls pm me if you have any ideas or want me to go into it a bit more thanks guys

whats a nats pin number and why do i need it and where can i get it from ?

this problem gets more complicated every time i speak to someone else its doing my head in

I tested my immobiliser yesterday just for the hell of it.... the engine started ok but the Check Engine light was flashing, after about a second the engine turned itself off.... I'm guessing this is what will happen if nats kicks in?

The immobiliser basically checks to see whether you have the right key for the car... so the chip in the key (under the red cover) transmits a code... when you turn the ignition, the car checks to see if this code is being transmitted...
Theres pretty much no way to bypass the immobiliser as far as I know, if it is the immobiliser you're gonna have to contact nissan.

yeah mine did that right will it turn over after the imobiliser has come on ?

Not sure.

Just a thought - Do you have a spare key anywhere? I know with my past two cars I got 2 keys. If the chip has been damaged in the key you're using, it should still work with the other key :)

ni i dont have a spair key thats why im having problems
is there any chance you could try and see if it turns over once the imobilieser has come on ?

I could do, I have an Si though as opposed to a GTi, dunno if it makes a difference.

Personally i think you would be better off testing other things like the fuel etc, make sure fuel is getting to the engine ok and things like that

if you could try it that would be great
ive checked everything you could thinkof even had a ecu tester on it to check for faults

Had a look on another thread and it looks right that it would start for a sec then cut out originally, and then not fire after that.

You played with anything recently before it stopped working? Have you had a look in the area of the ignition barrel for anything obvious? Its starting to look like a nissan job i'm afraid mate.

yeah i had a flat battery and tryed to jump start it but bat was a bit too flat so charged it up after that it didnt work

dont have permision to view that thread i need to pay up im afrade lol

Ah ok, i'm not sure what you could have done then tbh, I only know the basics :(
Guessing you don't have AA cover or anything where someone could come out to see you and have a tinker?

Just on a side note, I can highly recommend becoming a full member, with the discounts and how to's etc you can save a lorra dosh in the long run! :D
