Induction Kits for GA16DE

Hi guys - Mot is due in June after which i am considering fitting an Induction Kit and Full exhuast Stainless stell system to my SRi .

Ive heard by a few people in general that the K&N 57i indiction kits are very good - however what do almera owners suggest for :

- noise and clarity ( something can hear over the top of a loud stianless exhuast when pulling up the revs)
- significant power gain ?

Thanks

Dan

KnN look absloutly wank on a GA you'd be better off making a custom one , e.g buying some piping and a air filter cone like a GREEN one or pipercross or any make you wnt realy, you need to get a oil breather aswel.!

You wanna have alook at kia tats intake that is ace and i think he is using an apexi filter ,
im gonna have one made by the same bloke that made his i was that impressed.

Ractive kit made for Focus 1.6 if you have aircon it helps as the induction kit can be tied to the aircon pipe. Decent enough for what it is and looks good being a nice chrome piece of kit ;)

Had one in my SRi

i made mine using the stock air box... K&N pannel filtter...

just cut the standard breather pipe after the flexi bit after the first hole (found on the bottom of the pipe)..

drill off the two clamps and wrap insulation tape around the holes..

then

buy either a decent piece of induction hose... or do what i did as im short of cash and buy some cheep ducting hose from halfrauds £4 is all i paid.. put it through the larger hole in the side of the wing and get it pokeing through the smaller hole (oval shape one) and flex it down to the bottom hole in the bumper below the fog light.

put the flexi pipe back on the air box then turn the cut of piece around and put the cut of end in to the ducting hose and put the other end on to the flexi pipe and tape together making sure of no air leeks...

Sounds great... il post up some decent pics later.. or check out my latest post on ny rides thread..

hope this helps..

Hmm. I asked about induction kits and was warned away due to heat soak, unless thats just K&N. Or does the cold air feed completely remedy this problem? I discovered after 2 weeks my car already has a K&N panel filter. Which induction kits would work and provide power and sound without heat soak? or is a cold air feed always a requirement?

Problem with the GA engine is that the cones are to sit on top of the engine where the std box is. The standard box is obviously covering the filter with a cold air feed away from the engine. The K&N and others are open with cold air pipes but that gives you a bit of cold air and mainly hot from engine.

Best is to get something to put the cone on away from the engine block. Ill try find a pic of my old Ractive one but theres plenty of room in the GAs to create pipes/bends away from the block. You want as much cold air as you can!

This is made for Focus 1.6 old shape.

This could be the way forward, a mod but cheaper than the exhaust stuff. Really don't know where to get any of the parts from though.

keep the standerd airfilter box, go to b&q , get a lenth of 3" pvc pipe and a 90 degree bend , all in about 6 quid, take the tube out of the airfilter and fit a lenth of pvc pipe till it takes it past the dissy , fit the bend and run another lenth of pipe down between the engine and battery , should come out on the bottom lip between the radiator and body pannel , cheap cold air feed:cool::D

yeah until it melts...

go onto ebay.

type in almera induction kit.

*poof* up comes a relocating filter kit for about 35 quid.

dont see the point keeping the box!

So it would go, filter, pipe, big square box, throttle body.... not going to work too well is it
