instrument bulb gone

hi, iam the owner of a 04 2.2 dci 136, lately my bulb has blown in dash, dont fancy the costly auto spark bill, any advice on removal of cluster to change bulb, quite annoying at night time and can it be done outwith a garage? many thanks

Aye, it's easy done bud.

First of, there's 2 screws under the steering column plastic. Remove them so you're able to take off the top steering column plastic for easier access. Easiest to do this with the steering column in its low position.

Second, there's 2 screws in the top of the instrument cluster cowling. Take them out and the cowling easily pulls towards you. You should now see why we took off the plastic on top of the steering column.

Now you should see the 3 screws holding the cluster in. Remove them and cluster can be removed. The 2 wiring harnesses are fiddly but should be easy enough if you have girl hands :p

Once out, the bulb holders twist anti-clockwise and come oot. Replace the offending bulb and put back together.

Any questions, just ask ;)

Illumination but guessing since i am going to be taking out the cluster might as well change them all. Need to do the ones in the climate control panel also.

hi, got cluster out and replaced bulbs, but low and behold my daft mate knocked it when out and the rev counter needle fell off so we had to remove plastic and replace but now it looks as if it needs re calibrated it goes straight to 3000 revs despite being at normal idling speed, even when u switch ignition on it jumps to about 2000. help

Take the needle off turn on the ignition then put the needle back on pointing at zero, start the car and see if it sits where it used to on idle, if not adjust it till it does :)
