Hi,

When i first got my almera, the front interior light would come on and go off when you opened or closed the doors as normal.

A couple of weeks afterwards I press the button, for what ever reason, now the light will only come on if you physically push it.

Anyone else had the same problem, cos there seems to be no way of resolving it, fortunately there is the back interior light, that works fine.

But you know whats like!!!!!

Please Help.

loose connection.

mine was great fun, after i changed the lamp it would only work if i turned left and im not joking either.

my front interior light has never come on when opening the door, always need to push the button, the rear(middle) one works fine though.

but yeah, most likely a loose connection within the unit

mine only comes on when i press the button to turn it on, i thought its normal lol.

mine only comes on when you press it aswell in all three of my meras. the rear middle light when set in the middle position comes on when door is open. whats that all about then?? should the front one come on also hence two lights coming on when opening the door??

Yeah thats what I was thinking, my front one only comes on when button is pushed, thats the way it's always been, and the rear one has broken 1 week after replacing the bulb (It has, Off - Door - On, settings).

yeah thats how mine is, im assuming its meant to be like that?

The front map reading light is just that, a map reading light! It is not linked to the doors in anyway so could not have possibly come on. The one in the middle is the only one that comes on when the doors are opened.

my interior light does the same too, doesn't come on unless you push the button.
The light in the boot works though..

and i thought i was the only one with this problem!

my front one only turns on when pushed to the left or right, it doesnt turn on when the doors are opened.

i swear i dont have a rear interior light

My 2000 N16 has two spotlights (map reading lights) at the front of the roof between driver and passenger which can each be on or off and a single 'courtesy' light in the middle of the roof.
The 'courtesy' light can be on, off or on a timer that keeps it on for 30 seconds when the door is unlocked or the ignition switched off (and switches it off when doors are locked or car is started).

If I remember rightly the fuses for the courtesy light are 10, 13 and 14. Two are related to the timer circuit and the other is the power for when it is switched on manually - but -I can't remember which is which.

Just check them all.

[ edit: got this post confused with one lower down the list about an N16 with the same problem, feel free to delete this post as it's not relevent to the original poster ]
