Is it still worth fixing or just sell it?

Hi there,

I have a W reg N15 invitation. 5 door with disc all round (abs) 72K miles

The rear caliper has cease and hence the disc is badly damage.

Need to get a new caliper, disc and pads and get quote £150 to fix (find my own parts in ebay + labour)

Not sure if i just want to get rid of it or repair it.

Will the car still worth £350 with the current situation? Mot August, Tax end of March

Any option guys?

Thanks

I guess it really depends what the car is worth to you rather than anybody else. Would it cost you more to buy another car? Do you need a car to get to work and back etc...

Since i had the car its like poring money to it

I had it for 2 years and i had change:

both CV joints, one wheel baring, weald both seal, 4 new tyres, tracking, (i know the last bit is wear and tear)

Now carliper, disc and rear pads. just feel like its going to garage more than on the road

I only use it from and to work + little weekly shopping etc

but i got to say engine is excellent, never had a day it wont start.

Another reason is that my wife got a micra not used for a while. I was suppose to keep both but i am worry in few months time the other caliper could be on its way too. well anyone know what sort of price if i can sell it for on its condition? will it worth £350?

Thanks

Probably. But it's also probably worth £500 if you fixed it. Swings and roundabouts.

The things is that i can find a cheap caliper. i had quote £50 for labour. pads are around £20 and find a new disc for £5.

If anyone have one decent one let me know.

btw GTi ones dont fit a 1.4 right? i am thinking a 1.6 Sri one will fit.

I bought my mera off a workmate and laid out on wear n tear after having it a few mth`s - clutch, dizzy, sills welded.
I know where i stand with it now, calipers are not a major job and you take the risk of having the same things happen with a new motor.
My advice would be get it fixed, you`ve already spent money and that would be wasted if sold, and once repaired you know where you stand and i doubt it would let you down.
You`ve got pretty low mileage to, it`d be a good few thousand miles of motoring til those jobs you`ve done would need doing again.
