It begins, the cleaning of the bay...

Quick go with Citrus de-geaser on all my black plastic has had some suprising results. The rest tof the bay needs a full onceover on thursday but these pics show off todays effforts.

Spotted the big change yet?

Preperation was easy.
Wash and de-grease,a light rub down to key the surface, mask all pipe and breather holes, 2x coats of plastic primer and 3x coats of high gloss black.

Masked off a small window to retain a coolant level.

I also detailed the top of the washer fluid logo on the cap in red (of which i am quite chuffed).

(i did the bonnet prop and rad mounts too)

looks nice, been slowly cleaning mine up for ages now, just never seem to get it "finished"

also whats that next to the filter in the first picture? looks similar to the ABS stuff on our p10 but it looks like a strange place for it, its by the coolant reseviour and fuse box on the p10, seems strange having the brake lines going all over the engine bay like that when it could go in the p10 place

**Cough** Sorry dude, must have missed you doing that

Oh yes, I still browse this forum!

Fucker! Ok you got me. due to a family incident i had to leave most of these processes in the more than capable hands of Mr Dave (D6 DPH) who is the former owner of my car and Captain Keen as Fuck when it comes to detailing and subtle mods like this. He has taken me under his banner of 'OE+' which is basically modifying something to make it look as though it should be there from factory, or using higher spec bits from the model range to improve a lesser model.

Cant thank you enough for today mate.

lol no worries fella, You loved taking my car for a spin...... Shame it was the yaris not the 325!

I'll steal the car another day and get some more bits done for you. Relieves the boredom.

The yaris ruled! even if the ABS behaved like a 10 year old on crack! (erratic and random) almost made me want standard suspension again.....almost. Anty tips on getting that fooking heatsheild glossy would be most appreciated!!!!

Damo, once i'd tarted my engine bay up a bit and put the rocker cover on the heatshield annoyed me too :( i guess you could take it off and polish it, orrrr it might be time to get a manifold and squeeze a bit more bhp from the GA16:D

I went for a custom 2.25" s/steel jobbie but SSAC would make it look just as sexy!

You! Its all your bloody fault with your shiney manifold and black rocker cover! Just priced up my manifold tonight, and im getting one pending a good MOT! Git! :P

Once you start its hard to stop. Everything which didn`t look dirty before sticks out like a sore arse!
