Just a quick 'Hello'

Hi All,

Just want to say hi to you all, just become a Tino owner!

Not owner a jap car before, since I have a daughter the tino is perfect!

My names Rick, 27 from cheshire :)

Welcome Rick, you won't be short of information on here. Everyone's extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all things 'Mera :D

One or two, my stemum had a tino after her N15 also. Hope it goes ok for you, what model/engine is it?

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Mine is a 1.8 S model. It does what I need it to. Have to say I am really impressed with 'Tina' the tino.

Only thing I might have an issue with is fitting an aftermarket stereo. As its a 2005 model, its different that the previous ones and cannot find a facia for it.

Hi, yeah no probs.

You see the circled bit, thats where you put the cd in.

Looks like tha sat-nav version (same layout as my old P2 N16).

If so, if you remove the CD player, you`ll lose your sat-nav & I think the radio, as it`s all coded to NATS.

Anyway, iirc, someone wanted to do it on their N16, but you can`t fit a normal H/U to a P2, without re-designing the dash wiring, because the A/C, sat-nav & radio are all controlled through the same panel.

I maybe wrong, but it`s gonna be a right PITA to get it working properly.

Your best bet would probably be to put your H/U in the glovebox & re-route the aerial from the standard unit to the H/U.

Not sure if you`d lose the sat-nav signal if you unplugged the aerial though (mine didn`t have sat-nav).

Hi,

I understand what your saying. However it does not have sat nav on it, but you are correct that its all intergrated into the unit above the cd player....

Suppose it will give me a 'kick in the ass' to get my carputer project up and running. Just a shame tho, I really like my kenwood HU, its been with me over the years, from my 1st car.

Are we absolutly sure there is no way around this, except relocating the HU somewhere else?

(((PS thanks to everyone for their help, it is much apprietiated (sp?)))

I`m not really into ICE, so don`t know for certain (plus I haven`t had my N16 for over a year, so can`t really remember). :O

But, if yours was a Phase 1 model (going by JClarks link), you could swap the H/U no probs, but with the P2, because it`s all integrated, you cant. :(

Someone else will be along to give you the definitive answer though. :)

EDIT: Just re-read your post! :doh!:

As it`s not got Sat-nav, you should be ok with removing the CD player.

I think your H/U would fit in the slot, but it just wouldn`t be flush.
