Just blew my engine.

Anyone know best place to get a replacement GTI engine from as my bigends just gave up last night ?

I'm sooooo clueless as to where to find one and how easy or hard is it to replace the engine.

keep an eye out for premera gt being broken they have a very simalr set up to the gti .also try the for sale section in here and stick a wanted add up never know someone might have one

and finaly you could try the sr20 forum they may have some ideas on where to get one

have you not thought about rebuilding biger and better and with a turbo ??????

a guys was selling a whole GTi for £300
you could just take old one out and rop that engine in dont even need head off or anything!

when mine went it was because there was little to no oil left in the block. had an oil leek that i didn't notice then a week later I heard the dreaded noise of everything giving in.

Drove it to a mates garage (not the best idea) to get him to rebuild it but half way there the engine blow and I was faced with a hole the size of my fist in the side of the block and the embarasment of being sutck on the side of the A19 with smoke pissing from the bonnet.

Supposible these engines are just about bullet proof if looked after. I made my mistake, never again i check the oil everytime i drive it now.

i check my oil regularly. i find the timing chain noise on start up is a good indication as to the amount of oil in there

check my oil every day as my sump is pourous :/

water easy to check, if rad level goes down then it will draw in water from the expansion bottle.

I got lazy about checking the oil, and nearly payed the price. It got so thin, you could hear a loud ticking noise. Guessing it was the crank rolling over bone dry :O

It was all down to the VC gasket leaking worse than I thought.

a couple of times my sunny has been so low there was a tiny bit on the bottom of the dipstick, once it sounded a bit noisy, or rather like the cams were dry. Its still going strong though despite the fact it drinks oil every now and then. Hence why i check my oil a lot more often now
