Key fob

I changed the batteries on my key fob today, after i fitted them i went out to the car and found that now the key fob doesn't work. I rang up nissan and they said the fob needs to be coded to the car again :scowl:
Does any body know if i can code it my self, by pressing the buttons in a cirtain order or something like that, or is it done on their laptop?
The car is a 98 S reg GTI P2, with NATS System...
Any help.....

Press the red and blue buttons together until the fob LED stops flashing, then press the red button for 1 second.

See if this works.

can you program a key fob without the master ?


as you can guess from that i dont have a master and a nats system isnt cheep from what my locan nissan told me
