Lock needs replacing

Hi I'm new here. I bought my Almera on Sunday, decided it was time to get a bigger car now after owning 3 Micras, as I have a baby on the way.

The only glitch with my new Almera is that the drivers side lock needs replacing. It locks fine from the passenger side, it has central locking and the immobiliser works. The new key has to be kept with the old fob.

I have a friend who can replace the lock for me, but how would this affect the immobiliser? What would I have to do about keys etc?

It's a 1998 Si by the way.

Dosen't matter what door lock and key set you use.. whatever you do, you'll always have to use the original key and red chip when you start the engine.
Thats unless you fancy taking it to Nissan and getting it all done properley.

The actual lock is ripped out completely. Or at least looks like it has I'm not too sure, but the central locking still works fine. Would the central locking be affected by replacing just the lock on the drivers side?

no replacing the loc wont affect it,

if you want to use the same key as you have now then you can get a lock matched to your key from nissan
