Locking wheel nut confusion

Right, when i get my wheels back from paint, i want some locking nuts so they don't get theived.

Going through all the manfufacturers guides, they all suggest nuts which use a 60degree seat, even for the OEM wheel (which they are, GTi alloys). However, i thought the GTi alloys have a flat washer, not a 60 degree seat? So surely these wouldn't work? So what the hell do i buy?!

After-market locking wheel nuts with a 60 degree raduis and a 1.25mm thread and a 19mm hex on the end to get the OE spanner onto it.

Thats what.

Your after market wheels will need a 60 degree seat as all after market wheels either have a tapered seat (most commonly) or some have a radius seat (curved rather than straight mounting face). Flat seats appear on OE wheels, mostly french, and can only be used on you OE wheels, the lockers will not be interchangeable.

standard GTi nuts should have a taper on them, as do the steelies, although the face does look flat iirc. you can actually use the steely nuts as the taper is the same, would imagine there cant be many flat wheel nuts out there as the taper would help locate the wheel.

The standard nuts have a slight taper, i wouldn't say it was nearly as severe as 60 degrees though...

But i'll be alright with any locking nut then?
