Loss of instruments

Hi all, Wondering if someone can help! My 1998 Almera has developed an intermiitent fault, where the speedo, tach, temperature and fuel gauges go crazy! They either go to max, min, or stick where they are. This tends to happen after about an hour of motorway driving, doesnt seem to happen at slower speeds. From what I can see, the only common item to these instruments is the ECU. Has anyone any ideas?

Try checking that the battery fuse (75a) in the fuse box to the left of the battery is in properly / is a 75a fuse!

Failing that, it could be any number of dodgy connections behind the dash or even a faulty ecu, though I doubt it. Diagnosis could be a bit of a shite.
