Hi, my almera has recently started to loose power when pulling off, it generally only lasts for a few seconds and the car never stalls totally, it just compleatly looses power then kicks back in. Im thinking its got somthing to do with the fuel regulator, any ideas of the problem causing this? thanks

Its the 1.4 16v activ 1998. I thought it might me 1 of the electronic sensors, but would have thought it would stall compleatly not just loose power, seems like the fuel is getting restricted

yea fuel filter is less than a year old and the leads seem fine, the car works fine 95% of the time - full power etc its only every now and again when pulling off, which is y i thought it might be the fuel regulator?? cheers

Same thing happenend me in my old car, loss of power when pulling off, it eventually got worse and turned out to be the fuel pump

thanks mate, saved me alot of time messing around, ill get a new pump hopefully that'll solve it! :)

Do the revs shoot up when you get the loss of power?
might be your clutch

Hope it fixes ur problem my old car was a 1.3 Lancer it was like urs for about a week or two and eventually it would lose power completly and stall. I was driving it up a steep hill hill one day and power went completely, had to get it towed to the garage and put a new pump in and it was good as new only cost me 30 euro too

Might not be fuel pump. I have fitted Mass Air Sensors which I think is part of the throttle body on them, also had problems with Lamda probes (sensor in the exh manifold) and it won't always bring engine management light on.

Its worth keeping in mind if pump dont cure it.
