lowering springs

im seriously considering lowering my car on springs. I think im going to go for 35mm drop at the front and 20mm at the back. My question however, is, ive seen a GTi dropped 35mm and it looks great but do GTi s sit lower to begin with? Will a 35mm drop on my saloon GX look as good do you think?

@ almera saloon, my hatch GX is lowered 40 all round on 15's and looks alright, i reckon it will look well better dropped about 60 to be honest, but it wont be cheap without coilovers

20mm is not enough on the rear in my opinion. My rear springs are 80mm shorter than standard ones with a higher spring rate, and sit further into the bottom cup so they're probably giving me a genuine 80mm drop, which looks nice :)
Tire is level with the arch with 15's

what sort of springs are you using, did you cut the originals, or have you got a shorter shock?

im toying with cutting my original springs :eek:not safe to do so but im skint and 40mm drop still sits too high lol

Touché! lol

the Q&A with Halfords insists its safe but you LOSE some handling ability! Isn't one of the main reasons for lowering to IMPROVE handling? lol!

yeah i'd say so. someone mentioned to me they are designed for caravaners, to expand the springs to stop your arches rubbing the tires, but i'm pretty sure there is some ned running them on the saxo's

imagine the day the screws break... PING

"i didn't know i had hydraulics"
