This is my first post so wish me luck. My mum has just given me her 5 door 1.5iE 16v Almera, hence the title, n i am having trouble finding an exhaust system for it. Does anyone have any ideas? most of the exhausts i've seen are only for the 2.0GTI. I have just recently bought an induction kit and it sounds really good but i wanted to get something which would give it a bit more umph... anyone have any other ideas of what additions i could start looking at on top of the exhaust sytem??

Cheers

Mark

If it's a 1.5 you have an N16!

Welcome, as Prizma said, a custom one is the way forward.

The reason you cant find an exhaust system for the N16 1.5 is that 85%+ of all N16's are owned by customers aged above 40 years old probably

You're best bet is either gettin a custom zorst or importing a system like a HKS or Greddy or 5Zigen cat back system for the B15 Sentra 1.8

Apparantely the 1.5i engine (also known as the QG15DE engine) is similar mechanically speaking, as far as im aware, to the 1.8 (QG18DE engine)... For example they use the same K&N induction kit (depending on whether your car has the air temp sensor or not)

One of the boys here, shakey, has a 1.5 with a 4-branch manifold imported from America for the 1.8 B15 Sentra and it fits (and more importantly, works!) so if you are looking for performance parts and spending serious money on your engine then look to the USA

Oh and welcome buddy - just one word of warning... N16 gearboxes aint the strongest of components as my bank balance will tell you :O

Out of interest Paul is there a stronger gearbox available for the N16? or is it just a case of replacing it when it goes all the time?

Yeah there is - a £7500 sequential box from Quaife

I think i've got a phase 2 box on mine - my car used to cruise @ 60mph doing 2500rpm now it humms away @ 3k!!! LoL and im now gettin this slipping/holding clutch thingy that almera_guy/fred was having when you're overtaking someone and you shift it a bit quick and it's like it either slips/holds at a certain rev before settling... It's piss annoying

Like paul said the N16 gearboxes ain't the best, Mine is almost gone and i'm not going to replace the box, i'm going to scrap it instead. It needs some other work done like new brake lines and a new rear caliper. So come the end of the month no car for me.

Does anyone know of somewhere reputable in the north west for a custom exhaust? dont really wanna be travelling too far.

also, i have been thinking about purchasing some new lights, i think there are two sorts for the N16 but will the newer ones fit the older version?

hello and welcome and hope you find a exhaust for your almera soon

I own an N16. This thread isn't encouraging!

What sort of milage do the gearboxes tend to go at? Anything that can be done to stop them from going as quickly?

I'm 22 (just) - one of the 15% of people under 40 who own an N16. ;)

HI do a search for blue flame in skelmersdale, do not go urban racing!

does anyone know if the TDI box will go onto the petrol engine as i would image it to be a stronger box plus 6 speed aswell

o yeah the N16 has renault gear boxes!
