M.O.T questions

hi i have a 1997 almera gti which needs a mot on soon and the abs light is always stuck on i don't know why it was like it when i brought the car

is this an mot failure does anybody know

also is a engine temperature sensor a big job to fit on an almera gti
 
Yeah pretty sure that's an MOT failure. Has your car got aftermarket seats...i.e. buckets? Seem to remember there being a sensor under the seat which if you don't see to properly when fitting the seats, causes the abs light to stick on...

Maybe someone else can clarify this?

The car is standard apart from exhaust and filter i will just have to let a mechanic look and give me the dredded price :mad:
 
I think if you search for sensors, there's something comes up about the same problem. Seem to remember having a discussion about it before, and I could be way off here, but I think it was £130ish for a new sensor....I could be waaaaaaaaay out though!

edit: Just found this...

I'm not sure about the N16 specifically, but this is a common fault across a range of cars that is usually due to a loose wiring connector block under the front driver or passenger seat. If your car is under warranty, then best get the garage to do it, but if not, then it's usually a 2 min job to check the connection and ensure a good conect is made......

the wire under the seat is for the air bag system, nothing to do with the abs,
but anyway yes the abs light being on is a fail... :(
 
Mine is on, My drivers's side rear abs sensor is faulty. That was the fail.

Prepare to be dry bummed by Nissan, For £330. lol

Mine passed at a different mot station, With it on ;)
 
just a thought my son has a zetec fiesta fat exhaust induction kit but his abs light comes on now and again traced it to the wire that runs to the back brakes heated up through the exhaust when it came away u could check the wiring :rolleyes:
 
also have a look at the outer cv's as they are known to crack on the crown ring which is where the sensorspicks up from, also does the car brake ok etc?
