Hi there

:) Do any one know how to clean a MAF sensor? I have oil dep. on it and I just want to know if there is any way of cleaning it. My car is a bit slugish at about 2k-4k RPM and enjoying itself on gas. I need some tips.

Thanx

Thanx man
Have you tried it before? Can I just spay it over?

Am I right in thinking the MAF sensor is that tiny little resistor looking thing that we're no supposed to touch? if it is it's VERY expensive to fix if you mess it up.

If it isn't then what i've just said is irrelevant :D

yeah but it was on volvos but i imagine it should be ok? what makes ya think it is the maf sensor? they dont normaly get dirty as they are after the air filter. are there any warning/ECU lights on? it could be the O2/oxy sensor or somethig to do with EGR or even a vacume pipe split?

and yes that is the expensive one!

just spray the cleaner on and leave to dry dont touch the wire

Check the lambda sensors working and stuff too, could be that!

I took the car to a mac and he told me that I over oiled my airfilter. Where do I find the throttle body?

the thing on your inlet manifold that the other end of the intake pipe goes to. The butterly that the throttle cable moves when you press it.

Yeah that's right, my mate broke it and car didnt rev over 4000rpm and didnt go over 50mph, and costs a fucking bomb to get replaced.

What engine,do a self diagnostic for stored ecu faults!

i think i gonna clean my maf but aint got brake cleaner, before i go buyin some what else can i use? WD40? how do ya clean ya throttle body? god i need a haynes manual

Dont get WD40 anywhere near the maf! It`ll coat it in silicone and the reisdue will knacker the O2 sensor. Use brake/carb cleaner....same stuff.
