hi fellow members,

ive got one fob for my gti and it dont work as the buttons are shot, basically i know someone with a master fob and normal nats remote in good cond just lying around, can i just use that master fob and remote and program them to my control unit so it can work?

or do i need a new system?

all help appreciated.

cheers

the master fob will only occasionly open and unlock the doors, its not designed to do that! It purely holds the ignition code for the NAT's fob. Keep it locked away and get a NATS fob mate

I could be wrong, but I think the master fob is coded to the alarm unit, so if you have no master fob for that unit, you have no way of arming/disarming it. There may be a way of linking a new master to the control unit though, I'm just not sure how! :P

im going to ditch this shit system and get a clifford or something!!

does my head in as i always use the key and if i aint got the master fob it might completely immobilise it one day and it probs wont start LOL!!!

thanks for the replies guys.

The key itself has an immobiler chip built in. The red thing..so thats impossible for the above scenario.
Do what i did and fix your current key fob. The rubber buttons have metal contacts at the back, these are probably missing on yours. All you need is some good conducting metal contacts and they will work fine. i used tin foil and its fine.

the red light on it randomly comes on and off???, its just useless LOL will try that trick wiv the buttons tho
