misfire

Hi, I have an Almera 1.5 2003 with a intermittent misfire It usually happens if the car has been standing for a few days .Dry weather or wet it does not seem to matter. It will go away after the car has properly warmed up or if I stop the engine & then restart it will run perfectly. Also it ticks over fine & doesn't start misfiring until it reaches 2000 rpm approx.
Any thoughts or tips as to what could be causing this problem would be greatly received.

Thankyou

No wonder you picked your username as Peedoff lol..
Could be your timing chain mate, there's a common issue with them, some N16 owner will enlighten you a bit more.

Could be a number of things really . . . . . from a serious issue like a slipping timing chain as mentioned above, to a duff spark plug or dirty MAF connection. The timing chain issue affected the N16 1.5 model from 2000-early 2003. It's a known (but not officially accepted by Nissan) weakness.

first thing of all is it miss firing when you get to 2k RPM does it let you go past 2K RPM ?

if it will not let you go past 2K RPM then the ECU has put the engine in safe mode. it will not let you pass 2k RPM to save the engine.

first thing of all check your MAF air flow sensor and then check your spark plugs. it may be the coil packs that have gone but to be honest your best plugging it into the computer and checking it. it will give you a few fault codes. it may be a faulty crank sensor as they can go apparently

Is it doing this?

If so, go to Nissan and buy a new MAF, we tried cleaning the MAF, even putting in a MAF from eBay, but it didn't go away entirely until we replaced it with a genuine Nissan one.
