MOT is due and of the month and noticed that the price has gone up to £50.35! robbing bastards, I swear it was 40 quid last year.

Anyone know when this happened?

Yep, october i think. Standard national pricing structure i believe. I do still know a few places that will do you one for 20 pounds and 32 pence........

The 32 pence would be for the stamp on the envelope it arrives in.

Aye it's all gone up national to the same price. my mate is a mechanic and he said there is talk of the MOT going up to £60 but MOT will be valid for 2years

My local still charges £40. The £50.35 is the max they can charge, they could charge 10 pence if they wanted to...

Damo, I thought the computerised system has killed out the fake certs. I mean what's te point of having a piece of paper if the police can check the computer and see you don't have a MOT ??

Yea they are talking of changing it to every 2 years and new cars not needing one until it's 4 years old.

They are not "Fakes" per se, but the unscrupulous tester could just enter fake details onto the computer and produce a fake, real cert. If you know what I mean.

However if the 5-0 did a roadside check and founds loads of faults, the tester that did it would be in some deeeep shit.

few places down my way do it 4 £30 still but will be a mish 4 u 2 cum down here just 4 a mot. its all computerised now

no, text speak is a pain in the fucking arse to read mate. im 21 and i txt all day long and cant friggin stand it!

Mark: A freind was refused an MOT on his loud/cat-less Mr2 turbo. Mate of a mate gave the car a onceover, bunged his 'probe' up a civic exhaust and passed the car. dodgy, but emissions can alter quickly if some thing beaks down or breaks totally cant they? like a lambda sensor or clogged cat so the comeback to the garage would be negligable???

mine due on thurday as well another £50 quid to shell out.

Does anyone know what the score is with a free retest if it fails as last time the ($hite) garage i went to said "if i took the car offsite to fix any problems then i would have to pay for another MOT". is this correct? i thought you had about a week to fix problems and then got a free retest.

Cheers guys.

Yeah if the work gets done straight away, at the MoT test centre, there is no charge. If you take it away and come back for a retest within 10 days, then it is £25 retest, after 10 days it is £50 again.
