My Intake Kit mod

Ok some of you may know i had a few issues with my K&N induction kit - basically the idle revs were dropping ridcously low and the car stalled at junctions unexpectadly - not to mention the fuel economyc drop a fair bit and the scatty rev counter needle at idle

anywyas i tolk the advise of a few memebers tolk it off put the old filter box back on and the problem was rectified
however i was missing the imrpved low end response from the kit so i refitted the intake kit -not in the intented questoionable K&N of doing it (on top of the throttle body) -but by fitting the cone onto the end of the stock hose (thansk to SRi_Alan for providing me with another hose in case the whole idea went wrong and i had to return to stock :D ) and filter box and taking the panel filter out.

The drive remains strong and reliable - and its alot more responsive from 1500 rpm + now :D - just miss the intake air rush sound from where it was on the throttle body lol.

why not get some stainless steel tube and silicone tubing and relocate it rather than using the old air box and just adding the filter on the end

yeh thats not a bad idea mate - i do like it the way it is (looks tidy) -can live without the noise -i take it the stainless tubing would act as a "resonater" ?.

not really i dont think if anything helps with the induction roar looks good to also can help to redirect the cone to a better colder area

Stainless tubing would get rid of the 1 1/2" tubing it's currently attached to and give a nice smooth surface throughout, I doubt there's any difference on standard as it is but a good idea :)

love to mate but im working (its a saturday arrggg) !- im guessing you will have a slight edge on me with your stainless steel header and stripped interior :D - having said that the Nismo vinyls on mine might give me a 0.1 sec advanatage ! hehe lol :D :D

thanks for the suggestions guys - i like the stock box arrangment solongs the current setup is reliable im gonna keep it - just need a JDm 2 slat grille now to finish the car off ! :D

tbh you will only gain noise from that setup. have you taken the silencer box out from inside the standard air box where the old filter was?

The best setup is a closed forced intake.

heres some pics of my setup using the ebay kit and some b&q duckting

I dunno if either of these will fit your car. I would reccomend getting an enclosed filter though the open filters draw waaay to much hot air for any bhp boost, a heat sheild and some form of direct air feeed would probably be ok on an open one. I have just persoanlly seen better results from enclosed intakes.
