As it says in the subject title my Almera will be up for sale soon after JAE 2007. The poll is there to give me an idea how much to sell it for, after a while I'll update this post with an asking price and more recent pictures. Details are on my signature and feel free to ask me questions here. Thanks for voting.

I cant think of anyone who'd spend £6000 on an eight year old almera

Look at Naylor's, still for sale

I voted 3k-4k, just on the basis it's a 2.0L Almera, I know it's a very very special one at that, but people don't wan't to shell out on them, like they do on say a EP3 which is your direct rival.

well I'll stick my oar in here, most likely I'll offend but its NOT what Im setting out to do

yep, no one wants to pay any decent money for almera's.

The way I see it, good engine, but do you have any management running it properly yet? That was the main thing with pauls that it needed. also is it revving to 8k? if so it shouldnt be on the sr20ve bottom end.

coilovers, clutch and header is good. all things I'd pay for, but the rest i wouldnt.
most of the money has been spent in labour, and getting it to gti spec, rather than further improving a gti

when I was trying to put a price on mine, I thought if the flamera brought £9500, then mine should fetch the £6995 that I'm asking, in theory it should fetch more as its far more comprehensivly modded, but alas, the blingness and show popularity seems to be a winner.

I'm probs just going to burn mine out, not going to let somebody get it for nowt, Ive never took anyones eyes out and dont expect it to be done back, but thats always been the problem with the club, the type the mera typically attracts are the spendthrifts, want every thing for nothing, hence why you cant get much for the almera, how group buys hardlys work out, I mean people go mad for a carbon bonnet, but cant get a measly 10 together to get them

just my 2p (oh the irony  )

oh and ive moved it for a better discussion area

£4000 to £5000 imo, its an awesome car and you wont find another etc but things like a leather interior and other "special" bits are needed to push it over that imo, things that people can look at and see as big expenses to justify the extra cost, like with naylors were you can look at the interior etc and see obvious big money purchases and justify paying more for it.

if i was you i would put it up for £4500/£4995 and see what happens, if its up for £4995 and you get offers a few hundred lower then its still a decent price for what it is, you could end up dropping to high £3k but try it at a higher price first as thats what its truly worth to the right person imo. its an awkward car to sell though imo, most people will look at the price and see what else they could get and buy the more sensible option, the right person will look at it and buy it knowing there getting something unique but that person may be hard to find.

whats the power on this car like? bhp and torque? strip all the cr@p out of it make a great track car..can you get some proper pics up?

thats the thing with the vvl engines, I think he's running it the same as big al was, and when paul_d put it in his and ran it the same way, the vvl activates, you get noise, but it doesnt go faster like it should, if you'd not had a sr20de before you might think it was working properly, but when paul fitted the sr16 vzr ecu it made a big difference as it was mapped to add extra fuel and advance the timing at that spot, whereas the sr20de ecu just continues fueling as normal

its just waiting for the right buyer, just like the one Im waiting for, all I get is if I had the money.......

Good luck with the sale dArchitect, it will be sadly missed.

In terms of pricing: any price will rightly or wrongly be swayed either on uniqueness of the engine build or the age of the car. Either way its certainly a platform to take either down the track route or showcar route.

The additional features don't hamper the sale but perhaps justify a level of pricing. No buyer will need to re-wire anything thats missing for instance as some track cars are stripped back this far.

Its a running motor thats ready to go and some. As with most engine enhancements with Almeras - its all custom. Whatever the requirements from its current status is part of the modifying journey for the next owner.

That's the point though, people on here will appreciate the engine and what has had to be done to convert it, but say 'its a 5 door VVL' to anyone outside of nisan fans and they wont have a clue what you're talking about. The market to sell it at the right price is so small, and most people in that market dont have afew grand spare to buy an almera, if they did they'd buy something else.

its sad but true, no one wants to pay any good money for anything, maybe the best thing to do might just be get a normal sr20de engine and put it back in..then sell it for a more reasonable price...then sell the vvl engine seperately, or use it in another project. if you put it up for sale with a high price then it may well just not sell.....

All true. Well dArchitect has a spare GTi block but without the ancillaries.
Then there's the cost of rebuilding .. so he might not want to go through that again knowing that all it will achieve is maintaining a price to value. He may find that selling the VVL block only might only pay back the cost of the GTi transplant.

However, it would get the sale faster I suppose.

I'd say £4k, but it's hard enough to sell something for anything these days as people have said.

Main reason why I'm going to spend a good bit of money the Autech, I don't want what I spend back from the next owner, I want what I spend for me. The coilovers wont add money when I sell it, but they will make the car a hell of a lot more fun for me, which is what I want.

I'm going to keep it for a good few years anyway until I've done all I can with it, at this rate what I want to do could be done by the end of the year, but what do you do when you've done it all at the speed of light? Enjoy if for a month or two?

I'd rather mod at a slower pace and look forward to new things, it's quite nice having a limited amount of money to spend on it each month. I can imagine if I was on silly money it'd all be done in a month or two and I'd be sick of it.

The only thing I can think that'd I'd like more is a Silvia S15, but I can't insure one (let alone buy one) till I'm 25+ (19 at the mo).

Going to Japfest made me think about the Autech and how rare it is, I used to think Evo 6's were the dogs bollocks, but at Japfest there were atleast 30+, so now who's original? It totally put me off them.

You've got an original car chap, do you really want to get rid of it? I'm sure there are things you can do to make the car fun again, maybe something to think about.... ;)

I would sell the parts personally. Seems daft that cars are worth more broken up than all together. Agree wiv naylor as well on the fact that the blingness and show popularity seems to be a winner.

i put £2000-£2999 as i think that's all someone will pay for a mint almera. blah blah blah it's worth more! we all know the money you lose when you mod a car.

End of the day a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and i guess we're all looking for that mug lol
