N15 15" tyre sizes

thinking of having a bit wider footprint to try kill any understeer on the almera. need new tyres so thinking of 205/50/15s. difference in circumference is negligable, what you reckon? discuss......

Autech's have these, so don't see why you'd have any problems.

Look alot better with abit of overhang too.

im currently running 195/55/15 nackerbang ditchfinders, i was shocked as the back end stepped out the other day, although usually the front washes away first...

surely decent tyres would make a bigger difference than slightly wider? (seem to remember reading that some companys 195s are comparable to anothers 205s etc anyway due to were exactly they measure)

205/50/15 is a massive price difference aswell i think, im on 195/50's and they protect the rim enough for me, they look alot thinner than most people have on almeras but i kind of like them anyway, look ok imo, not overly thin.

i think if you compared back to back a 195/50 and 205/50 of the same brand in the same conditions etc you would notice very little difference, just isnt enough of a difference to be worth the extra cost imo (sure it was about £15 MORE per tyre last time i looked), especially on the road, maybe on track the tiny difference would be worthwhile

oh and avoid ventus k102 like the plague, terrible as soon as it gets wet, kind of good as they make you slow down and not even dream of going slightly quick in the wet but no good if you need to brake quickly, half decent ish in the dry, cant complain for what i paid for them though tbh

yeah go for it, ive got continental somethings on the front and goodyear pilot something elses on the back. grip is pretty outstanding, but quite pricey. the continentals werre £88 each and the goodyears £70 each from costco

ive just stuck with my 195/55/15, was going to put some rims on with 195/50/15 but was told the speedo will under/over read etc.

They look nice and meaty anyway.

50 profiles look too thin on the mera, someone had some on his a bit ago.

50 profiles looked 100 times better on mine, the tyres that came on the wheels were 55 profile, looked like a dumper truck on them, now on 50s and there much nicer imo, dont look overly low profile and in reality its a few mm difference really.

about the best comparison pictures i can find right now, bear in mind in the first one the car is sitting even higher than standard were it had just been jacked up, 2nd picture is standard "im on stilts" height

Goodyear Eagle F1s

The ONLY choice for a 15" rim. Put them on my 205 and turned it into a go kart on rails as opposed to the previous fitted and aforementioned ditchfinders that were on there before.

Nankang ditch finders. lol. Whats the deal with Nankang tyres then? Ive got them fitted ( NS2 195/40) to my 15's. I know they are cheapo (came fitted when i bought the wheels), but they seem half decent to me and i drive my car pretty hard round the twisties and i have lots of grip.. not brilliant in the wet mind you but they are alright.
Are they really that bad?

I'm on 205/50/15 Pirelli P6000s, standard GTi rims. They stick pretty damm well and are consistent wet or dry.

I once remember P600's being described by a TVR owner as "Slippyer than a buttered eel on ice."

I had two on the front of my car when I got it, and I agree with him. Running Champiro GT's now (still budget) and they are awsome in comparison.
