n15 gearbox input shaft bearing replacement

Hi all, I have a 1998 Nissan Almera 1.4 gx that needs the input shaft bearing replaced. I am sure it is this bearing that is given trouble, the noise is coming from the gearbox in the neutral position and when the clutch is pressed in, the noise disappears. I am wondering is this an easy job to complete when the gearbox is out or is there a lot of ripping of the gearbox to replace it?. The car has covered 110,000 miles and is driving very well and the noise goes when in top gear. Finally if I continue to drive will it create more problems are should it be ok?. Is it worth doing? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Mine went in my old car and oil leaked onto the clutch making it useless! Bought a second hand box to fix the problem and then lost 5th and reverse on that :(
