Hi all, I have a 1998 Nissan Almera 1.4 gx that needs the input shaft bearing replaced. I am sure it is this bearing that is given trouble, the noise is coming from the gearbox in the neutral position and when the clutch is pressed in, the noise disappears. I am wondering is this an easy job to complete when the gearbox is out or is there a lot of ripping of the gearbox to replace it?. The car has covered 110,000 miles and is driving very well and the noise goes when in top gear. Finally if I continue to drive will it create more problems are should it be ok?. Is it worth doing? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
