N15 GTI Throttle Body seems to stick open.....

Right, obvious comments first, Yes I have ensured the cable is free and not sticking. Yes I have removed the actual butterfly housing and cleaned it all. The return spring on the outside is as strong as needs be and there is no way in hell the return spring doesn't pull the throttle shut once my foot is lifted off but is sounds as if either its pulling in air somewhere or a choke is open (on a old conventional car...). It doesnt just rev straight up to the limiter but seems to gently run up the revs. The only way to remedy this is to kick the accellerator down hard once or twice for the rev's to drop back down to normal. This also only seems to happen when I'm hard on the accellerator. Its bloody frustratingwhen you approach traffic lights, engage the clutch and the car is reving at a constant 5000rpm or 7500 like the other day... Any obvious suggestions I might have missed??
Thanks

Thanks guys. I will have a look. The problem is getting worse by the day and making the car a pain to drive. Will investigate the weekend and report back, cheers:)

this has happened to me twice, and is a super opportunity to evaluate how good your clutch really is (lol).first time was a cruise control cable sticking the throttle body open,2nd time the egr pipe snapped off under the throttle cable while it was wide open.hope you figure it out soon...

sri-alan on the money......f@#king rubber grommet getting stuck on the cable guide on the butterfly valve. .......where would I be without struggling fellow nissan owners.....Cheers guys!!:)

You would have found it at some point, as mine eventually jammed the throttle open. Was in 5th and dropped to 4th and felt like the car was speeding up with my foot off throttle. changed down gear and it sped up even more, pulled into a layby and turned it off at 7000rpm. popped bonnet and there it was. unbelievable how much of an effect that tiny rubber grommet can have
