N15: Is this connector for heated mirrors?

Hi all,

In the door of a N15 (LHD, GA16DE, 4dr, in my case), are two connectors. See example pic below of someone's gti.
The grey connector, is this for mirror heating? I tried to messure 12V on it when the rear window heating was on, but no result. Or does the motor have to run before the heating actually turns in?
Or maybe I have to add an extra fuse in the fusebox?

Looking forward for some usefull answers. There are VZ-R mirrors waiting for installation here :)

Its either for the heating element or for the power folding mirrors. As far as I know VZR mirrors are not heated anyway.

Then where is it for? Edit: I read neither instead of either

I've got a pair of mirrors with a heating element behind the mirrorglass and a motor for the folding function.
Wiring is internal integrated with each other and looks very OEM nissan.

The 2 wires from the heating element have a grey 2 pins connector on it.
Then there was a 5 pins connector, 3 pins for glass adjustment and 2 extra for the folding. (total 7 wires)

I'm pretty sure it is for both folding and heated mirrors. i have it on my Pulsar GTI. the VZR was technically a lesser spec'd model from what i have seen (although it got more in terms of optional extra's) it was kind of a tax dodge lol but that connection was also in my old uk gti so i guess it's just a generic loom they fitted to all the doors to save time/cost i dare say it wouldn't be hard to get it working

In Japan there are lots off mirrors for sale with power folding, but without heating. All wired on a 5 pins connector.
In Europe we don't have a 5 pins socket, so I rebuild the wires for European fitment and make an extra connector for the folding function.

Now I have 7 wires to connect ( 2 extra from the heating element). Mirror adjustment and power-folding wiring was connected to the 5 pins connector.
The grey heating element connector looks like it will fit in the grey 2 pins socket. I was hoping that the grey socket in my car was already connected and functional.
I already figured out I have to make extra wiring to make the power folding work, I also have the JDM operatingpanel with the buttons.

Off course I will get it work, but I always try to make it as much as nissan would do :)

Also I had to replace the 3dr RHD triangular mounting plates for 4/5dr LHD triangular mounting plates to get it fit on my car and to create a good view in the mirror.

(Sorry for my bad English if I use wrong words or spell them wrong)

VZR lesser spec compared to what? it was the top spec available in Japan but with any model it had numerous optional extras that could be added at time of purchase.

The second 2pin plug pictured is for the heating element and works in line with the rear demister.

This gives me hope. But I tried yesterday to measure any volts on this 2pin plug, but 0 volts :(
Although the checklight on the rear defog button was on (with carkey at ACC position), maybe it's not working when the motor isn't running.
Or is there a separate fuse somewhere that I miss?

doesnt have an extra fuse, I imagine it needs to be a complete circuit for it to work.

Now I have installed the mirrors, The connector from the heating element plugged in the grey plugs, both sides. Should be the ultimate test then.

Drove around for like 10 minutes, but the mirrors don't warm up

I'm not sure you'd actually feel any warmth. Remember that it only has to raise the temperature above 0 degrees to melt the ice.
A test light is your best bet.

Tried with my breath, worked great to get condensation, but didn't disappear by turning on the heating.

I will go on with measuring on the wires and won't stop till I'm sure something is not connected or something else is wrong. If that's the case, I'll make some new wires to make it work.
