N15 ?? or N16 ?? which is mine ?

Apologies for seeming to be a numbskull, but what is the difference between n15 and n16 ?
I have just bought a W reg (2000) Almera sport plus 1.8
What would that be?
Also, I have just forked out £200 on a new exhaust for it as it blew (three weeks after buying the car) and the car is now running roughly with the engine management light flickering on.
I have put engine conditioner into it and someone has suggested that it could be the o2 sensor. -- Has anyone any thoughts on this ??

yours is an N16 fella...N15s were only made up to V reg - they were the predecessors to the N16.

Ouch...unlucky with the exhaust, afraid I can't help with the engine management light thing...best thing to do imo though is to get it plugged into a diagnostic machine before you start forking out cash for parts.

Someone else on here should be able to help you a bit more...I have an N15, so know nothing about the N16 sorry!

Sorry its not related but Ive seen a W reg N15 slx

N15 and N16 are chassis identifiers. The 'old' style Almera (1995-2000) is based on the N15 chassis and the 'new' style (2000 - 2006) is based on the N16 chassis. There are too many differences between the two to list but the main difference is that you don't get many N16 owners in this forum moaning about how much they hate the N15 models. :P

There are a number of things that could be causing the roughness and warning light after a blown exhaust - best bet as suggested above is to get it plugged into a diagnostic machine and see what the engine management system is complaining about. May cost a little from a local garage but better than guessing and spending a fortune on parts.

Where did the exhaust blow (downpipe, midsection, backbox, before or after cat etc)? - it may help others toguess the problem to know that. Depending what bits of the exhaust system were replaced it's possible a sensor has been knackered by the blown exhaust or the repair or (as happened to me after a blown exhaust) it could be something completely unrelated that's happened now by complete coincidence so best bet is a diagnostic.

Cheers Wraith, a mate is taking it to get a diagnostic on it so hopefully it might get sorted out tomorrow. By the way, it blew just before the flexi pipe at the front, but the back box was knackered also. --- £220 later, a new exhaust and whatever this fix is going to cost..... dohhhhh................
