N16 2.2 diesel bad MPG

Getting really bad mpg in my 2.2 almera' dash is reading 25' what could be causing this has anyone an idea? was hoping to get high 30s' types are ok for air all motorway miles' hoping someone on here have the same problom and will be able to help me out' thanks

You should be getting low to mid 40s. Higher still if you mostly do motorway miles.

What year is your car?

Air filter, fuel filter, fresh oil and filter. ECU and fuel pump reset. EGR clean and intake manifold clean (aerosol) can all help improve.

Check your earth from battery to chassis and from chassis to engine block. If the earth is badly corroded or only a few strands of copper could be the cause as similar affected my fuel ratio until quite recently.

Also try Forte fuel treatments they have helped with my fuel consumption, and correct tyre pressures if too low could affect mpg. Is the car full of stuff like people, luggage or tools?

To be honest they didnt look that bad at all' no corriosion or frayed copper wires' tuck it all off and gave it the wire brush treatment" put it back on" and tuck it for a spin up the road, straight away the mpg went up and keeped going"

Worth fitting an earthing kit have always done so in recent years and improvements are always noticed. Next thing I'm fitting on mine time permitting.

Try the other bits of advice you will also see gains. Especially forte cleaner & egr cleaner
