This is my first post in the website, I own a N16 YD22D in south asia, similar to the ones but here only saloons with few twiks in the styling! I am in University in the UK . my YD engine does not come with a Turbo like Almeras here. I desperately want to convert it like the YD22DDT engine spec. Can you guys help me out where to get the Turbo here and what additional parts will I need to complete the transformation?e.g do I need new headers and exhaust manifold? or will the stock N/A YD headers do.Looking forward to your replies!

Turbo is mounted onto the exhaust manifold.. So it will obviously have to be changed boss.
Probably easiest to buy a DCi Almera and swap the whole engine.

There's someone in New Zealand trying the same thing. He too has a YD22 with no turbo.

I don't know enough about a non-turbo YD22 to know everything you'll need so perhaps you could talk to that guy about it? For instance the non-turbo could have different diesel pump and injectors too. But you'll definitely need exhuast manifold, custom down pipe, and depending on what turbo you want, some form of management. If you go for the GT1849V (part no. 727477-5) then you might be able to source an ECU from Europe/UK as that's the stock turbo on these cars. Or if you go for a non VNT turbo then you can use a stand alone boost controller. You'd also need an intercooler to keep that boosted air cool.
