n16 dci idler pulley

My 2.2dci almera has started making a nasty noise from the idler pulley on the air con drive belt. There's a bit off play in it too. Our work supplier's just say 'nah mate can't get that ' ! Called local nissan dealer who are rather good £96.25 for that! Any one had same experience or know off a good nissan breajer's? Looked for primera/ x trail's no dci's around here:/ or is it worth just removing the a/c belt i don't use it even in summer any way.

Recently had exactly the same problem as you. Sounded like a family of chipmunks under the bonnet. Had to source the part direct from Nissan, as I couldn't find a pattern part for love nor money. Didn't get it any cheaper than your quote, and I live right next door to the Nissan factory in Sunderland . Did toy with the idea of cutting the belt off, but use climate control most of the time. It will work though and is certainly an option, as the drive belt drives nothing but the compressor. Seems the DCi can be a bit of a bugger to get certain parts for. You wait till you need a new alternator

Deffinatley not easy to ger certain bit's for :/ im tryingvto live with it but if it get's worse belt will get removed ! Not after it now need's top mount's!

I would personally either get it done or remove it asap. If the belt gets thrown off the pulleys, it may take the alternator belt with it. That one also drives the all important water pump.

I did a similar thing on a L series diesel ( rover ). Belt tensioner was noisy and they're about £80. Got some new bearings for a £5 fix.

I know there genuine part's but for how much they want is mad! I'll get the pulley off at work tomorow an on pop to the engineering place i think ! Heard a familar sound in a car park last night ....a x trail dci went past same noise lol

Have you tried spraying WD-40 on the belt mine was making a racket and pal sprayed it sound stopped and hadn't returned since?

Yeah it's got new genuine drive belts on it £26 for both but after market one's squeal as they got cut out's in them . Sprayed white grease in to the pulley shuts it up for a few sedonds then comes back
