Hi,
Any known problems with lowered by 20mm at the back / 30 up the front with 17" and Tyre Width: 205 ? Thanks

I've got 225's and have dropped about 40mm... has caused problems :( . Makes horrid noises everytime I hit a big bit of gravel... let alone road humps... On top of that I was coming through France recently moving at a 'reasonable' rate of knots and hits a fairly large hump... you could smell rubber for miles after I when I pulled up in Boulogne and checked the tyres part of the rear panels along the arches had been ripped outwards subsequently cutting into the tyres...

I'm getting the arches rolled out as much as possible next week when I get home (only £30, bonus! :P ) however I had intended on sticking on 130mm worth of spacer front and back and splashing out on a set of coil-overs to widen the stance  ... at least now I know there will be an extensive amount of bodywork involved if I want to keep my tyres in one piece  !

Morale of the story... don't lower by much if you're using 225=>mm ;)

got 205/40/17s on mine, is now down 35mm on apex springs, havent had any problems in a day or night of hard driving so far. No scrubbing whatsoever, and the ride isnt as harash as expected

Here's a couple of photos with my car lowered 35mm @ the front and 20mm at the back on 205/55/R16 "dumper truck" tyres :P :-

What about quality of ride? I'm intending to put 16s on, and lower front by 30mm and rear by 20mm. Are the stock damers up to the job, or will I be turning my N16 into a teeth breaker?

Brian,

Put stupid question here....

how hard is it to lower a almera?
whats the damage for getting this done?

Put it this way - the shocks ARE up to the job and you DO notice a difference in handling and the information from the wheels to your fingers (in my opinion) PLUS im running 16" OZ Racing wheels. HOWEVER if you drive along bumpy road surfaces and/or speed humps you WILL feel them (could probably tell if they were made from granite or tarmac  ) And if you take any corner above 25mph in the wet then it'll understeer alot sooner than it will normally... As i found out today

Unless you want to fanny about with spring compressors and dissambling strut top mounts and bearings (unless your a half decent mechanic/"technician" [ :gay: ] then dont!)

Just wait and save up for coilovers if you want to lower it yourself as most coilover kits come pre-built.

OR you could contact somewhere who can lower it for you
