Hi guys,
I'm not sure if anyone over there is really interested in this, however due to coming closer to the point where i'll be taking the car off the road for a period so I can turbo it, i've done quiet a bit of research into this.
Now the blokes(and lasses) over at B15u.com have started using the UpRev Osiris reflash on the SpecV QR25DE's. Uprev currently do not support the QG18, however I've done a bit of emailing back and forth to sustain compatibility. Uprev have contacted me and informed me that they can offer something for the QG18DE, however due to my car not being available in the USA, that testing may be a long process, which could take a while. This is partly due to offering support for another motor and the qg18de market not being a large one.
Osiris operates using the CAN bus system via the stock OBD2 Service port. From my understanding the software was originally developed for the VQ35DE, but now they are starting to slowly offer support for other motors. The software does cater for Real Time Tuning, but certain functions can only be performed by a reflash.
ECU options for the S2 petrol N16 are very limited, partially due to the electronic throttle and OBD2. Piggyback systems can have the tendency to suffer from "tune drift" due to the stock ECU's learning ability.
I've looked at the option of full aftermarket ECU's, however on a daily driven car, I feel that the loss of some functionality with air con, etc deem going this path not worth it.
The major plus side I see to the Uprev Osiris is the ability to revert the ECU to completely stock, removing the modified reflash, and returning the car to stock. Also the factor that it doesn't need to be wired in is also another factor.
There are already 2 dealers of the UpRev products in the UK, RS Tuning and Abbey Motorsport.
I guess the reason I'm posting this, is to see wether there is any other interest out there from anyone else that may be interested in this product. I'm quiet happy to be a test pilot, but the more interest i can get raised for a product like this, the more effort Uprev will put into it and will result in a quicker turn around process.
Dave.
